Types of Childcare

There are many types of Child Care facilities in Manitoba, but they all fall under either Licensed Child Care or Unlicensed Child Care.

Licensed Childcare

All licensed child care in Manitoba must follow The Community Child Care Standards Act. The Act defines the child care situations that need licensing. Its regulations ensure child care in licensed centres and homes meets minimum standards

Unlicensed Childcare

In Manitoba, a person can provide private home child care without a provincial licence, to a maximum of four children under the age of 12. Only two of these children can be under age 2. These numbers include the care provider’s own children and any other children living in the home.

What needs does your family have?

Childcare is a very important decision for any family. Children’s parents want their children to grow up in an environment that is safe, stimulating, intellectually stimulating, creative and emotionally nurturing while also meeting their individual needs.
Determine where he or she will be most comfortable. You should think about your child’s age, their particular interests, the number and ages of other children your child enjoys being with, and any allergies or dietary restrictions your child has.
Each child care program will have a different approach to how they offer child care and may provide different services, such as snacks or meals, and the hours in the day that they provide child care. Other crucial things to consider are things like your work hours, the location of the program and the cost
